Food Technology Teaching Role in a Growing Academy

An academy school in West Bromwich is seeking to appoint a Food Technology Teacher to join its Design and Technology department from September. This is a full-time role within a school that is continuing to develop its practical curriculum and student engagement in vocational subjects.

Food Technology plays an important role in the curriculum, supporting students in developing essential life skills alongside subject knowledge.

About the Role

You will teach Food Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering lessons that combine theoretical knowledge with practical cooking sessions. Students will develop an understanding of nutrition, food safety, and preparation techniques.

You will support students preparing for GCSE Food Technology, helping them develop both coursework and practical assessment skills.

The role includes maintaining a safe and organised kitchen environment and ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues to support consistent curriculum delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Food Technology across KS3 and KS4

  • Deliver practical cooking lessons and theory-based sessions

  • Teach nutrition, hygiene, and food preparation techniques

  • Prepare students for GCSE Food Technology assessments

  • Maintain kitchen equipment and resources

  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed

  • Assess student work and provide structured feedback

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

  • Experience working in a practical teaching environment
