Geography ECT Vacancy - Outstanding School in Birmingham!

Marchant Recruitment
Birmingham

An Outstanding secondary school in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Geography ECT from September 2026 to join its high-achieving and supportive Humanities department. This would be on a full-time and permanent basis.

This is a school where Geography is highly valued, both academically and as a subject that helps students understand the world around them, global issues, and the relationship between people and the environment. The department is well-resourced, collaborative, and ambitious, with students who are curious, respectful, and eager to succeed.

The school is looking for a Geography ECT who can bring enthusiasm, strong subject knowledge, and a genuine passion for teaching into the classroom. You will be joining a team committed to delivering engaging lessons and helping students develop confidence, curiosity, and strong analytical and investigative skills.

The Role

You will teach Geography across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to contribute to KS5 for the right candidate. Lessons should be engaging, challenging, and accessible, encouraging students to think critically, explore global and environmental issues, and develop both geographical and fieldwork skills alongside theoretical understanding.

The department has a strong culture of collaboration, with teachers regularly sharing ideas, resources, and best practice. There will also be opportunities to contribute to enrichment activities such as field trips, Geography clubs, intervention programmes, competitions, and cross-curricular projects.

Students are well-behaved, motivated, and respond positively to teachers who are supportive, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about their subject.

The Ideal Candidate

The school would love to hear from candidates who:

  • Hold QTS and a relevant Geography degree

  • Can teach Geography across KS3 and KS4

  • Are passionate about inspiring young people through Geography

  • Can create engaging and inclusive lessons for students of all abilities

  • Build strong relationships with students and colleagues

  • Bring energy, positivity, and fresh ideas to the department

  • Are eager to develop professionally as part of a supportive ECT programme

Whether you are completing your teacher training or are an ambitious ECT looking for outstanding support and development, the school would be excited to hear from you.

What the School Offers

  • Outstanding ECT support and mentoring

  • Excellent professional development opportunities

  • Modern classrooms and excellent resources

  • Engaged and respectful students

  • A welcoming and collaborative Humanities department

  • Clear progression opportunities within the school

  • Strong focus on staff wellbeing

  • Free on-site parking and excellent facilities
