Support Worker

We recognise the importance of consistency in the lives of children and young people, which is why we actively support our Residential Support Workers to develop into future Team Leaders, Deputy Managers, and Registered Managers. The Role As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people within a residential care setting. You will help create a stable, caring, and structured environment that promotes emotional wellbeing, independence, resilience, and positive life outcomes. This is a full-time position working within a rota that covers the home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including sleep-ins where required. Key Responsibilities * Build positive and meaningful relationships with children and young people. * Encourage participation in education, hobbies, social activities, and community engagement. * Act as a positive role model, offering guidance, encouragement, and consistent boundaries. * Support young people to make informed choices and participate in decisions affecting their lives. * Safeguard children and young people by following all safeguarding and child protection procedures. * Observe and report any concerns relating to wellbeing, behaviour, or safety. * Maintain accurate daily records, reports, and documentation. * Attend meetings with families, professionals, and external agencies when required. * Support the smooth day-to-day running of the home, including cooking, cleaning, and general household duties. * Manage challenging behaviour positively and effectively, using restorative and therapeutic approaches. * Work in line with:The Children Act 1989, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards, Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures, Ofsted requirements, Company policies and procedures Requirements Essential * Flexibility to work shifts across a 24/7 rota. * Ability to complete sleep-in shifts. * Commitment to ongoing training and professional development. * Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. Desirable * Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People (or equivalent). * Previous experience working within residential childcare. * Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures. * Understanding of Ofsted regulations and residential childcare standards. * Knowledge of the Children Act and relevant legislation. Salary & Pay Structure Residential Support Workers without Level 3 Qualification * £13.25 per hour during probation * £13.50 per hour upon successful completion of probation Residential Support Workers with Level 3 Qualification * £13.75 per hour throughout employment Additional progression opportunities and salary increases may be available through promotion into senior roles.
