Our global footprint is further enhanced by our strategic partnership with Interlaw which works to facilitate our management of multi-jurisdictional matters. We have leading practices in Corporate, Litigation, Tax, Banking and Finance, Real Estate and Private Wealth.

We've always been proud of our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and value the variety of our partnership. We are different and we believe it is our people that make us unique. We expect and respect that you and your talents are too. Our strategic direction is shaped by a desire to grow our business in a way that is responsible and sustainable and has the principles of ESG at its core, guiding the way we operate firmwide.

Where you'll work

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Associate to join a small international private wealth team with excellent clients and ambitions for growth. Private Wealth has always been an integral part of Trowers & Hamlins and forms part of a wider Tax and Private Wealth practice. The Private Wealth team is led by Partner, Richard Jordan and includes 4 further partners based across our UK and international offices.

The group advises a wide range of individuals and families, family offices, wealthy families and private wealth advisors on matters involving tax, wealth planning, structuring and philanthropy as well as the more traditional areas of private wealth.

The purpose of this role is to work directly with our Private Wealth Partners to provide a first-class service to clients and assist in the future development of the group.

Acting for HNWIs, family offices, trustees and organisations servicing the private wealth sector both in the UK and internationally, we undertake all types of private client advisory and implementation work. The role is focused on international and cross-border tax and estate planning, acting for clients with widespread multi-jurisdictional elements to their business and personal affairs.

The Team

We work with a wide range of families, individuals, trustees, and those in the private wealth advisory sector. Each is unique, but what they all share is the need for practical advice to enable them to plan for the future and tackle arising challenges.

We have a proven track record of providing first class training and support to assist individuals in reaching their career goals.

The Role

As our department continues to grow, we have an opportunity for a Senior Associate to join the team in Birmingham.

Acting for individuals and trusts both in the UK and internationally, you will undertake all types of private client work including the preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Domestic Trusts, and capital tax planning. Internationally, we advise on residence and domicile planning and structuring both inbound and outbound.

What you will be doing

The successful candidate will be expected to advise clients in the following areas:

  • Estate and asset protection planning;
  • Drafting wills including tax efficient wills and those incorporating trusts;
  • Creation of onshore trusts including drafting and advising;
  • Probate planning;
  • Powers of attorney;
  • Court of Protection matters;
  • Pro-active participation in marketing initiatives;
  • Efficient file management skills and ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures;
  • Participating in firm-wide and departmental training sessions;

What you will need

The firm has a Career Development Framework which sets out the competencies we expect of those at the Senior Associate grade. In particular for this role we require:

  • Previous experience of the above matters;
  • Proven ability to take on responsibility and manage files;
  • Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with at least 6 years' PQE in private client work;
