SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Birmingham Hours: Full time Salary: £92-£110 DOE We’re looking for a warm, caring, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a student who has Special Educational Needs. In this role be working closely with students who have ADHD, ASD, Emotional and behavioural Issues. You’ll help be working build the student’s confidence and support their social, emotional, and academic growth making a real difference in their school experience. You’ll work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to make sure the support you provide is personalised, consistent, and truly helpful for the student. Key responsibilities Make a real difference by providing dedicated 1:1 support that empowers a student with SEN to access learning and build confidence every day. Bring learning to life by helping deliver engaging, personalised activities that match the student’s strengths, interests and developmental needs. Champion communication and emotional wellbeing by supporting the student with strategies that help them express themselves, regulate emotions and feel safe. Create moments of success through positive behaviour support and encouragement that fosters independence and celebrates progress — big or small. Work collaboratively with a passionate team of teachers, the SENCO and specialist professionals to shape individual plans and ensure the student receives the very best support. Play an active role in shaping the child’s journey by observing, recording and sharing achievements linked to their EHCP targets and personal goals. Help build an inclusive, nurturing learning environment where the student feels valued, supported and able to flourish. About you Naturally nurturing, with a calm presence that helps children feel understood and supported. A positive force, bringing energy, creativity and optimism into the classroom. Adaptable and intuitive, able to adjust quickly and respond to the student’s needs with empathy and confidence. A great communicator, building trust with students, teachers and families through honesty, warmth and clarity. Curious and eager to learn, always open to new strategies and training that help you grow in your role. Experienced or simply passionate about SEN, with a genuine commitment to helping children thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Experience with students with ADHD, ASD and Behavioural issues or something similar. Please outline on your CV with relevant experience.
