Jericho (The ReUsers/ WoodShack) Customer Service apprenticeship

Summary

We are looking for apprentices to join our social enterprises (The ReUsers and WoodShack) in Sutton Coldfield. You will work with our friendly team for 12-15 months and be supported to achieve a level 2 Customer Service qualification. We offer start dates throughout the year and can usually offer starts within a few weeks of application.

Wage

£12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices

After the first 12 months, your pay will be at the age related National Minimum Wage

Hours

Weekly rota is in place across 7 days working 4 days, including two full weekends every 4 weeks. Shifts are 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, Saturdays 8am to 4.30pm and 10am to 4.30pm, on Sundays.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

• Greeting customers as they enter the shop
• Accepting new donations
• Assisting customers to find the products they are looking for
• Dealing with customer queries
• Loading and unloading vehicles
• Serving customers at the till
• Keeping the site clean and tidy
• You may occasionally work as a driver's mate with our WoodShack Team
• Any other duties requested by the Line Manager

What you'll learn

• Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
• Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
• Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
• Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
• Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
• Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrate patience and calmness.
• Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
• Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
• Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Training schedule

• You will be supported to achieve a level 2 NVQ qualification in Customer Service
• If you do not have a level 1 pass in English and maths, you will have be supported to achieve this. If you don't have a level 2 pass in English and maths, you will be supported to upskill to this level
• This training will be delivered on a regular basis at the workplace by a Next Level Training assessor with time given to complete the coursework during work time

Requirements

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

• English (grade Grade 1-3 or equivalent FS)
• Maths (grade 1-3 or equivalent FS)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Due to funding criteria, we can only consider applications from people who live within the boundary of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield.

The role will involve a mix of working indoors and outdoors. The outdoor element will involve being out in all weathers and appropriate clothing will be providing There is some lifting of donations required and manual handling training will be given
