Reception Teacher - Birmingham
Overview
We are recruiting an inspiring Reception Teacher to join a welcoming Birmingham primary from January 2026. The successful Reception Teacher will take part in pre-term planning before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and be teaching from January 2026. This Reception Teacher post suits someone passionate about language development, play-led learning and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Role summary
The Reception Teacher will lead high-quality, developmentally appropriate provision, designing indoor and outdoor continuous provision that secures Early Learning Goals. The Reception Teacher will deliver daily phonics, story time and focused number sessions. As Reception Teacher, you will work closely with teaching assistants and families to ensure each child makes excellent progress from January 2026.
Teaching duties & expectations
• Plan and deliver systematic phonics and shared writing as the Reception Teacher.
• Provide stimulating indoor and outdoor learning as the Reception Teacher.
• Assess against the Early Learning Goals and track progress as the Reception Teacher.
• Lead transition work into Year 1 and liaise with parents as the Reception Teacher.
The Reception Teacher will prepare resources prior to January 2026, deliver induction tasks during January 2026, and teach in class from January 2026.
Candidate profile
We are looking for a Reception Teacher with QTS/EYTS or equivalent, secure EYFS practice and confident phonics delivery. The Reception Teacher must demonstrate strong communication with families, calm behaviour strategies and a love for play-based learning. Availability for pre-term planning before January 2026, induction in January 2026, and a start from January 2026 is essential.
