Why is this role important?

The team has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing local authorities and other public sector bodies, and is passionate about remaining at the forefront of societal and policy developments to achieve the best results for clients. Continued growth in this sector has created a need to expand the team to ensure clients continue to receive the highest standard of service.

- Contributing to marketing and business development activities, including tender and proposal writing, networking and attending conferences
- Achieving agreed annual targets for billable hours and fees
- Opportunities to undertake short‑term client secondments
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, delivering work to a consistently high standard and earning client trust
- Maintaining personal development through training, keeping up to date with legal developments and relevant government policy
- Undertaking legal research as required and on your own initiative
- Carrying out other duties appropriate to the level of the role
What technical skills are required?
- Excellent drafting skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise and commercially focused advice on complex issues
- Strong IT skills, including confidence using electronic time recording and case management systems
- Experience in regeneration projects is advantageous, though candidates with a strong interest in the area and transferable experience (such as property development, housing or local authority property work) are also encouraged to apply
Who would be a good fit?
The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate:
- A collaborative, team‑focused approach, building relationships across departments
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop trusted client relationships
- High levels of initiative, commitment and professionalism, with a good track record of meeting financial and performance targets
- A flexible, ambitious and commercially focused mindset, with experience contributing to business development
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Experience of project management and delivering process improvements
- Willingness to spend time in other offices when required
- A pragmatic, common‑sense approach to legal problem‑solving
- A genuine desire to develop long‑term within the team and progress their legal career
