DT Technician (Resistant Materials Specialist)
Location: Small Heath Start: ASAP Pay: £110–£119 per day (depending on experience) Contract: Long Term Are you an experienced DT Technician with a strong background in Resistant Materials and a passion for supporting practical learning? We are working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Small Heath seeking a dedicated DT Technician to support their Design & Technology department. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school where practical, hands-on learning is a key part of the curriculum. The Role: You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging and safe DT lessons, particularly within Resistant Materials, ensuring all practical work is prepared to a high standard. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, set up and clear away equipment for Resistant Materials lessons (woodwork focus)
- Maintain, service and safely store workshop tools and machinery (e.g. saws, drills, sanders)
- Support teachers and students during practical sessions where required
- Monitor and manage stock, including ordering materials such as timber and fixings
- Ensure strict adherence to health & safety regulations in the workshop
- Maintain a clean, organised and fully functional workshop environment
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
- Previous experience as a DT Technician or within a workshop environment
- Strong understanding of Resistant Materials and woodwork machinery
- Relevant health & safety qualification (e.g. SMHS certificate)
- Relevant DT or technical qualifications (preferred)
- Highly organised, proactive and able to work independently
