SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism Specialist

Contract Type: Full-time | Term Time Only
Monarch Education is working with a well-respected specialist school in North Birmingham that supports pupils aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other complex learning needs. The school is known for its warm, structured environment and its commitment to helping every student reach their full potential-academically, socially, and emotionally.
We’re looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant who genuinely wants to make a difference. If you’re patient, calm under pressure, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, this could be the perfect role for you.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting students with ASD in the classroom, helping them stay engaged and focused.
- Working one-to-one or in small groups to deliver tailored learning and emotional support.
- Helping with sensory activities and structured routines.
- Assisting teachers with lesson prep and classroom organisation.
- Encouraging independence and celebrating small wins every day.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND , especially ASD .
- Someone who’s caring, reliable, and not afraid to get stuck in.
- Good communication skills and a team-player attitude.
- Any relevant training (e.g. Autism Awareness, Team Teach) is a bonus-but not essential.
