Premises Manager - Independent Primary School - Birmingham

About the Role
As Premises Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management, safety, and maintenance of the school site. You will lead a team of site and premises staff, ensuring the school buildings and grounds are safe, secure, and fully operational for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing all aspects of site management, including building maintenance, repairs, and security
Leading, training, and supervising site staff and contractors
Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and fire safety protocols
Managing school facilities for events, assemblies, and community use
Monitoring and maintaining heating, lighting, and security systems
Conducting regular inspections of buildings, outdoor areas, and equipment
Coordinating preventive maintenance schedules and responding to urgent repairs
Maintaining accurate records for compliance, inspections, and site operations
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will:
Have significant experience in premises or facilities management, ideally within an educational setting
Demonstrate strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Be practical, hands-on, and able to oversee a wide range of maintenance tasks
Have a thorough understanding of health and safety, fire safety, and compliance requirements
Be confident managing contractors, staff, and external stakeholders
Communicate effectively and maintain a professional, approachable manner
