We invite you to bring your proven experience in asbestos consulting to deliver strategic EHS risk management services to clients across a wide range of sectors, throughout the UK and overseas.
This is a great opportunity for candidates who are looking to apply their practical experience and industry knowledge and move into a project management level position to further develop their career. To succeed in this role, you must be BOHS P402, P403, P404 qualified as a minimum with 5 year’s relevant industry experience.
We operate a flexible hybrid working policy and candidates will be based between our Birmingham or Leeds office and home working. There will be an expectation of travel to other parts of the UK as part of this role and potential for international travel if interested.
Your new role
As our new Asbestos Consultant, you will be part of a global division of Ramboll, a leading engineering, design and consultancy company. Trusted by clients to manage their most challenging environmental, health and social issues, it has more than 2,100 staff worldwide. Our UK business employs over 250 environmental science professionals in 14 locations and covers a breadth of consulting services structured around compliance, strategy and transactions, impact assessment, new initiatives and sustainability, product safety and stewardship, contaminated land, and Water.

You will work in a collaborative, supportive and multidisciplinary environment, contributing to projects across a wide range of sectors including construction, infrastructure, manufacturing and industrial environments. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are supported, with some travel required for client engagement and site assessments.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Delivering strategic asbestos risk management services to clients across a wide range of sectors, throughout the UK and overseas
- Providing services to ensure related projects are managed to the highest standard
- Supporting the client/stakeholders supply chain decision making
- Mentoring junior team members
- Business development internally and externally
- Lead Client accounts
- Advising on best practice and policy development
- Dealing with potential exposure incidents
- Management of asbestos surveys and abatement projects
- Development of Asbestos Management Plans and Risk Reporting
About you
We are looking for an experienced and confident occupational hygienist who is motivated by leadership, technical excellence and service development.
Your starting point for constant growth includes:
- Experience in asbestos consulting and management of survey/abatement projects
- Comfortable working in a team, and able to manage own workload
- Ability to deliver a wide range of asbestos risk management solutions
- Strong background in asbestos consultancy and/or project management with over 5 years’ experience within the asbestos industry
- Experience managing or working on large Client accounts
- Understanding of current and emerging asbestos legislation and best practice
- Experience writing proposals, asbestos management plans, registers, policies and procedures
- Technical authority ability to review asbestos survey reports, and other asbestos related documentation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client stakeholder and supply chain management
- Previous role as an asbestos subject matter expert (SME) would be desirable
- BOHS P405 or Certificate of Competence Asbestos (CoCa) would also be advantageous
