An excellent 11–18 secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a Lead Teacher of Biology to join their high-performing Science Department from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent leadership role that offers the opportunity to help shape Biology teaching across the school and lead an ambitious, forward-thinking team.

About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Biology from KS3 through to KS5, inspiring curiosity and critical thinking while taking a strategic lead in curriculum planning, assessment, and teaching innovation within the subject. They will oversee the delivery of high-quality lessons that foster engagement, enquiry, and academic excellence.

As Lead Teacher of Biology, they will play a pivotal role in mentoring colleagues, driving standards of teaching and learning, and supporting the continued success of the Science Department. The role also includes responsibility for:

• Developing and implementing schemes of work and assessment strategies aligned with the latest specifications.

• Leading professional development sessions for staff and ECTs.

• Monitoring progress data and ensuring effective intervention strategies.

• Organising enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs, biology fieldwork, and national competitions .

• Supporting students preparing for GCSE and A-Level Biology , ensuring excellent outcomes.
