Senior Mechanical Engineer - Shape the Future of Energy. Be part of the energy transition in the UK!

The global shift to a low-carbon future is accelerating, and Stantec is at the forefront of helping communities produce, distribute and consume energy more sustainably. If you're passionate about making a meaningful impact, this is your chance to join our industry-leading Energy & Resources business and help drive real change.

We're growing! Following continued project wins and new client partnerships, we're looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Waste & Generation team based across our Redditch and Newcastle upon Tyne offices.

As part of our Waste & Generation team, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, including Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facilities, District Heating networks, Gasification & hydrogen generation Schemes, Biogas & Anaerobic Digestion plants amongst other technologies.

You'll be involved across the full project lifecycle - from early optioneering & feasibility through to detailed design & installation.

This will include:

  • Conducting site surveys and technical investigations
  • Developing mechanical designs, specifications and project-wide solutions
  • Supporting the production of drawings, 3D models, P&IDs, schedules and reports
  • Preparing specifications and scoping documents for construction packages

About You

You will be an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, ideally with a background in the energy, power or process-plant sectors. Along with a strong understanding of mechanical systems such as steam, piping, hydrogen, biomass or EfW technologies. Chartership status would be ideal or actively progressing towards this status is encouraged.

Most importantly, you'll reflect our values: client focus, collaboration, service excellence, and designing with community in mind.

Why join Stantec

  • A friendly, supportive, and collaborative team culture
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including pension, private medical insurance, and discounted gym membership
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Opportunities to work on high-impact projects across the UK & Ireland
  • Industry-leading training, development, and paid professional subscriptions
