What does the role involve?
The role will include:
- Advising and assisting private clients on compliance and regulatory matters across a wide range of industries and undertakings, including food, fashion and general retail
- Interpreting relevant regulations and guidance
- Supporting the drafting and implementation of compliance policies and procedures
- Conducting due diligence in corporate transactions
- Liaising with regulators
- Advising on civil and criminal enforcement matters
- Advising and representing clients in relation to product recalls, including trading standards investigations
- Defending regulatory investigations and prosecutions brought by bodies such as the HSE, Environment Agency, police, local authorities and other regulators, including:
- Preparing for interviews under caution
- Liaising with regulators
- Advising on the strength of evidence and plea
- Advising in relation to inquests
What technical skills are required?
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience using relevant case management systems
- Familiarity with online and library-based legal research tools
- Ability to develop a detailed understanding of systems and procedures, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to clearly explain processes and provide practical advice to clients
