Attendance Officer – Inclusive Secondary School – Birmingham

Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Paid to scale

We are looking to appoint a committed and detail-oriented Attendance Officer to join an inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school in Edgbaston, Birmingham. This is a vital role within the school, ensuring that attendance is accurately monitored and that students are supported to achieve excellent attendance and punctuality.

The successful candidate will work closely with pastoral teams, senior leaders and external agencies to promote high levels of attendance across the school. You will be responsible for tracking attendance data, identifying patterns of absence, and implementing interventions to support students and families.

This role requires someone who is confident working with data, has strong communication skills, and is able to build positive relationships with students and parents. You will play a key role in safeguarding by ensuring attendance concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately.

Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and record daily student attendance
• Analyse attendance data and identify trends
• Follow up on absences with parents and carers
• Work with pastoral teams to support students with attendance issues
• Maintain accurate records and reports
• Support safeguarding processes related to attendance

Requirements:
• Experience working with data and administrative systems
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with students and families in a supportive manner
• Knowledge of school attendance systems (desirable)
• Commitment to student wellbeing and safeguarding
