We have a brand new opportunity to join our Birmingham Built Asset Solutions team at an exciting stage in its growth. Joining us as Associate Director, you will play a key part in the success of the team, providing collaborative support the office building surveying director, managing a growing team and helping shape the future of the service in a high-growth market. Based in our established Birmingham city centre office , this is a role for an accomplished chartered building surveyor who wants to combine service delivery, people leadership and business growth in a team with a bright future.About the role
This is a senior role with real scope to influence the direction of the team, support colleagues to progress and play a visible part in the continued growth of the Birmingham business.
As a senior figure in the building surveying team, you will help lead the delivery of high-quality building surveying services across a broad range of commissions, while supporting the growth of the Birmingham team and wider service offer. You will work closely with the office lead to build client relationships, develop team capability and strengthen our position in a growing market.
Key responsibilities- Lead the delivery of a range of building surveying commissions across built assets and client portfolios
- Support the building surveying lead in the day-to-day leadership of the Birmingham team
- Build strong client relationships and help identify and win new opportunities in a high-growth market
- Provide clear, practical advice on building consultancy, asset performance, risk and project delivery
- Take ownership of commissions from instruction through to completion, ensuring quality, commercial performance and client satisfaction
- Coordinate and lead project teams, bringing together the right Gleeds expertise to deliver strong client outcomes
- Manage, mentor and develop colleagues, helping build capability in a small but growing team
- Contribute to business planning, team growth and the continued development of the Birmingham Built Asset Solutions offer

Who we’re looking for:
Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
- Broad, in-depth Building Surveying experience post MRICS qualification;
- Detailed knowledge and practical experience of delivery of building surveying tasks;
- Sound knowledge of construction methods and materials;
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies;
- Ability to administer construction contracts as Contracts Administrator and Employers Agent;
- Clear understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts;
- Ability to motivate others (including providing support and encouragement) and to lead high performance teams;
- Clear and effective communication skills – both oral and written;
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changes;
- Excellent problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills;
- Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily;
- Sound ICT Skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Competent at negotiating sufficient fees to both complete services and generate required profit levels;
- Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams.
