Assistant Principal - Behaviour and Attendance
We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Principal who is driven by a deep belief in the power of education to transform lives and opportunities. This is a rare opportunity for an inspiring and highly skilled leader to shape the culture, behaviour, and attendance across a thriving, diverse academy – ensuring every student feels valued, supported, and ready to excel. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will bring not only expertise and strategic clarity but also the passion, resilience and moral purpose needed to deliver meaningful change. If you are motivated by high expectations, committed to inclusive education, and ready to make a profound impact on students’ life chances, we would be excited to welcome your leadership and vision to our community.
Bournville School is a vibrant and diverse school. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed leader who wants to make a lasting difference across the whole-school community. Bournville School is built on traditional values. Pivotal to this is a positive ethos and culture of learning and success for all students. There is particular regard to outstanding achievement for all students, whatever their academic starting point, and a commitment to lifelong learning for all stakeholders. We believe that every child should leave school proud of the young adult they have become and that every youngster attending our Trust deserves the opportunity to thrive in an atmosphere where high expectation meets endless possibilities.
In this role, you will:
Lead, manage, and have strategic oversight of the implementation of the school’s pastoral systems, ensuring continuous development and improvement in practices and outcomes
Ensure that the vision, ethos and values relating to the expectations around student behaviour, attitudes and personal development are clearly communicated to all staff, students and parents and reinforced regularly
Lead on strategic plans to improve attendance with measurable outcomes
Maintain strategic oversight of student disciplinary processes and ensure thorough and accurate reporting
Monitor the standard of pastoral care, behaviour for learning, and practices of staff and students and discuss progress and areas for improvement
At the Academy, we expect the Senior Leadership Team to be fully committed to:
Comprehensive, community education within an urban, multi-cultural environment
The inclusive values and framework of the Academy
Working as a mutually supportive team, sharing responsibility, successes and challenges
Exercising positive leadership and creating a shared vision of the purpose and future development of the Academy that reflects our ethos and aims
Maintaining high personal and professional standards in all aspects of Academy life
A consultative and participative approach to leadership and management
Being forward-looking and anticipating change
Responsibility for their own professional and leadership development
