We are seeking a hardworking and technically-minded School Caretaker to join a prominent secondary school in Stourbridge . This is a role for someone who understands that a well-maintained school is the foundation of a great education. You will be a visible and essential member of our staff, ensuring that our site—spanning traditional halls and modern sports facilities—is safe, secure, and ready for our 1,000+ students every morning.

The Snapshot

• Location: Stourbridge (Junction Road area / Pedmore)

• Salary: £26,500 – £31,000 (dependent on experience and local authority grade)

• Contract: Full-time, Permanent (Year-round)

• Hours: Rotating shift pattern to cover opening (06:30) and closing (18:30).

Detailed Responsibilities

• Facility Management: You will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical "wellness" of the school. This includes monitoring the Biomass/Gas heating systems, managing the lighting across the campus, and conducting regular PAT testing for portable appliances.

• Multi-Trade Maintenance: We need a "jack-of-all-trades" who can handle reactive repairs. One day you might be fixing a leaking pipe in the science labs; the next, you’ll be repairing a locker or re-painting a high-traffic corridor.

• Security & Safety: As a primary key-holder, you will lead on site security. This involves managing CCTV systems, responding to alarm activations (occasionally out-of-hours), and ensuring all fire exits and equipment meet strict annual compliance standards.

• Grounds & External Spaces: Stourbridge is known for its green spaces, and our school is no different. You will manage the external grounds, ensuring play areas are safe and that the site is fully gritted and accessible during the winter months.

You should have a strong background in maintenance or a specific trade (e.g., plumbing or electrical).
