Location: Birmingham office - 3 days in office / 2 days from home
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 plus car allowance

The Opportunity..

Due to a significant period of growth, an established main contractor is looking to appoint an Assistant Estimator to work from their Birmingham office. This is an excellent opportunity for a ambitious individual to work on a varied range of projects within the building sector for public and private sector clients, ranging from £1m to £40m in value.

The successful Estimator will play a key role in supporting the pre-construction team, taking responsibility for preparing accurate and competitive estimates under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Estimator.

The Role..

• Assisting in the preparation of tender submissions and cost estimates.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Carrying out quantity take-offs and measurements.
• Sending enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Obtaining, analysing and comparing quotations.
• Assisting with pricing schedules, bills of quantities and tender documentation.
• Supporting the preparation of budgets and cost plans.
• Maintaining accurate tender records and databases.
• Liaising with internal departments, clients, consultants and the supply chain.
• Attending tender meetings and occasional site visits.
• Assisting with post-tender queries and negotiations.
• Supporting handovers to delivery and commercial teams following contract award.

Key Requirements..

• 1-2 years previous experience as an Estimator with a main contractor.
• Proficient in the use of estimating software such as Conquest.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work within a fast-paced team environment and work to deadlines.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
• Educated to a high standard in a relevant subject (Degree / HNC/D).
