Design Technology Teacher

A secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher with a specialism in Food Technology and/or Resistant Materials to join their department from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.
The role involves teaching Design Technology across KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons that encourage creativity, innovation, and technical problem-solving. You will support students in developing practical skills, design processes, and subject knowledge while preparing them for GCSE coursework and assessments.
Responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons, conducting practical demonstrations, assessing student progress, and maintaining safe and organised workshop and food preparation environments. You will play an important role in helping students develop confidence through hands-on learning and real-world applications of design and technology. The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
- Hold QTS (or equivalent teaching qualification)
- Have experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level
- Be confident delivering Food Technology and/or Resistant Materials across KS3 and KS4
- Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills
- Be passionate about practical learning and student achievement
