History Teacher - Independent School, Birmingham
An independent school in Birmingham is seeking an engaging History Teacher to join its department from September. This full-time role offers the opportunity to teach within a school that values intellectual curiosity, debate, and a strong grounding in historical skills.
About the Role You will teach History across KS3, KS4, and KS5, covering British, European, and world history with an emphasis on source analysis, argument, and independent thinking. Small class sizes allow for close engagement with students' written work.
Key Responsibilities
Teach History across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level History examinations
Develop essay-writing, source evaluation, and critical thinking skills
Provide detailed feedback to support progress and exam preparation
Contribute to enrichment activities such as historical talks or trips
Take part in curriculum review and development

Candidate Requirements
Essential
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong degree-level knowledge of History
Experience teaching History at secondary level
Excellent written communication and feedback skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level History
Experience working in an independent school setting
Interest in organising historical trips or guest speaker events
