Job description This is an exciting opportunity to join HMRCs CDIO (Chief Digital & Information Office) Chief Digital Product Office. The role will provide the successful applicant experience in fast-paced and challenging IT projects. Not only will you be expected to lead in driving the delivery/change forward, but lead the project governance, engagement with external suppliers and utilise commercial/financial awareness using Agile and Waterfall/Prince methodologies. There may be opportunities to support the delivery of other key projects, including digital change initiatives within Estates led programmes, such as new building delivery, legacy site closures, and tax policy changes. You will have experience across a range of products and services, throughout the change lifecycle. You will coach and mentor Associate Delivery Managers as well as the possibility of line management responsibility. You will use your knowledge and experience of Delivery Management or Agile methodologies to coach and mentor teams and colleagues. You will encourage and facilitate continuous improvement and identify and remove blockers to delivery. You will help ensure that CDIO applies the latest in innovation and ways of working and help spread those practices across the wider organisation. Person specification As an IT Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for:- The end-to-end delivery of one or more medium-to-large IT projects.
- Production and management of end-to-end IT delivery plans and status reports.
- Identification, management, and escalation of IT risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Raising, monitoring and challenging commercials / costs across all delivery teams and commercially engaged delivery partners.
- Financial forecasting and tracking of delivery/project expenditure.
- Building and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships in order to achieve successful outcomes.
- Applying your experience / understanding of both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies, and delivery of digital IT change in a Delivery Management setting.
- Removing blockers for successful delivery.
- Coaching team members, CDIO and HMRC stakeholders in Agile or Delivery Management.
- Being an active member of the Delivery Manager community.
- Using variety of team forming, norming and storming techniques to build self-sufficient and empowered teams.
- Creating a team environment that fosters success and self-organisation.
- Working closely with a range of external and internal stakeholders, including Product Managers, Technical SME's, Business Relationship Managers (BRM's), IT Suppliers, Delivery Managers and Project Managers to ensure delivery of successful products aligned with the project scope, requirements and timeline constraints.
- Leading the end-to-end delivery of medium to large-scale IT or digital projects, including complex technical or business change within a structured delivery environment.
- Setting delivery direction and taking ownership of outcomes, including motivating teams and maintaining delivery momentum in complex or fast-paced environments.
- Operating within delivery governance frameworks, including creating and managing delivery plans, risks, issues and dependencies, and ensuring readiness for key assurance and decision points.
- Managing commercial and financial aspects of delivery, including forecasting, cost control, and effectively challenging suppliers and delivery partners to achieve value for money.
- Leading delivery across multidisciplinary and multi-supplier environments, building strong working relationships to enable successful outcomes.
- Applying Agile and/or Waterfall delivery methodologies, with recognised qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, MSP) or equivalent practical experience.
