Year 1 Teacher - Independent School - Birmingham
A prestigious independent school in Birmingham is seeking a passionate Year 1 Teacher to join its vibrant, academically ambitious KS1 team from January 2026. The successful Year 1 Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum subjects, ensuring all pupils reach their full potential.

As a Year 1 Teacher, you will work closely with the Head of Year 1 and the wider KS1 team to plan engaging lessons that combine creativity with academic rigour. The independent school in Birmingham offers a supportive environment where the Year 1 Teacher can thrive professionally while making a lasting impact on pupils’ learning. This role requires a Year 1 Teacher with enthusiasm, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence in teaching.
The Year 1 Teacher will be actively involved in assessment, reporting, and pastoral care, supporting pupils’ social and emotional development alongside academic progress. Key Responsibilities for the Year 1 Teacher:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across all Year 1 subjects.
- Plan, assess, and monitor pupil progress in line with school policies.
- Support classroom management and positive behaviour strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
- Liaise with parents to provide feedback on pupils’ progress.
Person Specification:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching KS1, ideally as a Year 1 Teacher
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Passionate about delivering high-quality teaching in an independent school
- Able to start in January 2026 in Birmingham
