Employment Law Solicitor

Position: Full-time Overview An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and commercially minded Employment Law Solicitor to join a progressive and growing legal practice. This role offers the chance to work within a dynamic environment that values innovation, professional development, and high-quality client service. You will manage a diverse caseload acting for both Claimants and Respondents across contentious and non-contentious employment matters. This is a client-facing role suited to a solicitor who is confident, proactive, and capable of working independently while contributing to the wider success of the department. Key Objectives * Deliver high-quality fee-earning work and contribute to departmental profitability * Support business growth through client development and service excellence * Maintain high professional standards in line with business objectives Key Responsibilities * Advise on all aspects of employment law, including contracts, policies, and procedures * Draft employment contracts, staff handbooks, and related documentation * Represent clients in Employment Tribunals, including advocacy where appropriate * Negotiate and draft settlement agreements * Provide strategic advice on disciplinary, grievance, and dismissal matters * Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and reporting * Attend client meetings, including on-site visits where required * Deliver training sessions and legal updates to clients * Develop precedents, templates, and guidance materials * Contribute to business development through networking, marketing, and seminars Skills & Experience * Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a minimum of 2 years’ PQE in Employment Law * Strong technical expertise across both contentious and advisory employment matters * Experience managing a full caseload with minimal supervision * Advocacy experience (desirable) * Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills * Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems Person Specification Commercial Awareness Understands financial and commercial drivers of legal services Effectively manages billing, WIP, and cash collection Identifies opportunities for business growth and service improvement Client Focus Builds strong, trusted client relationships Delivers reliable, responsive, and high-quality service Maintains strict confidentiality at all times Personal Effectiveness Highly organised with strong time management skills Works independently while contributing positively to the team Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and sound judgement Communication & Leadership Communicates clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing Engages effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders Capable of mentoring or delegating where appropriate Development & Growth Committed to continuous professional development Proactively seeks feedback and improvement opportunities Contributes to a positive and collaborative working environment Salary & Benefits Competitive salary dependent on experience Performance-related incentives Opportunities for career progression Ongoing training and professional development Supportive and forward-thinking working culture We endeavour to reply to every candidate, every time but if you haven’t heard back within 10 days, please understand that you have unfortunately been unsuccessful for this position, or the position has been filled
