About the Role
As a Premises Assistant, you will work closely with the Site Manager to help maintain the school buildings and grounds. The role involves a variety of practical tasks to ensure the school remains a safe and efficient environment for teaching and learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the opening and closing of the school premises
Carrying out routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs
Supporting the upkeep of school buildings, classrooms, and outdoor areas
Assisting with health and safety checks across the site
Ensuring playgrounds, walkways, and communal spaces remain clean and safe
Supporting the setup of halls and classrooms for assemblies, events, and activities
Assisting with monitoring heating, lighting, and security systems
Reporting maintenance issues and supporting preventative maintenance work
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will:
Have experience in facilities, caretaking, maintenance, or a similar role
Be practical and confident carrying out basic maintenance tasks
Have an understanding of health and safety procedures
Be organised, proactive, and able to work independently
Have good communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude
Be reliable and flexible in responding to the needs of the school site
Previous experience working in a school environment would be beneficial but is not essential, as training can be provided.
