Teacher of Spanish - West Midlands
A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in the West Midlands is seeking a passionate Teacher of Spanish to join its well-established Modern Foreign Languages department. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys bringing language and culture to life and values working in a collaborative, supportive environment.
The Role
You will teach Spanish across KS3–KS4 , with the potential to contribute to KS5 as the department continues to grow. The curriculum is carefully sequenced, focusing on strong foundations in vocabulary and grammar while prioritising confident speaking and listening skills.
Lessons are lively and interactive, making use of authentic materials, cultural context and retrieval-based practice. The department places strong emphasis on building students’ confidence and enthusiasm for languages, particularly among learners who may not see themselves as “natural linguists”.
The School
This is a well-regarded, community-focused school with a reputation for positive behaviour, strong pastoral care and good academic progress . Leadership is visible and supportive, and there is a clear commitment to staff wellbeing and professional development.
The school serves a diverse intake and celebrates languages as a key part of its inclusive ethos, encouraging curiosity about the wider world and respect for different cultures.
The Department
The MFL department is stable, welcoming and well-led. Teachers work closely together on shared planning, assessments and intervention strategies, ensuring consistency without stifling individual teaching style. There is also scope to support enrichment such as language clubs, cultural events or exchange opportunities.
About You
You will:
Hold QTS or equivalent qualification in MFL (Spanish specialism)
Have strong subject knowledge and confident classroom practice
Be committed to inclusive teaching and high expectations
Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team
Be enthusiastic about promoting languages across the school
What’s on Offer
Competitive salary and clear progression routes
Supportive leadership and realistic workload expectations
Strong behaviour systems and engaged students
Excellent CPD and subject-specific support
This role would suit a Spanish teacher looking for a school where languages are genuinely valued and where staff feel supported to teach well.
