Embedded Systems - Business Development Manager
We are recruiting for a strategic Business Development Manager – Embedded Systems to drive growth across a specialist portfolio of embedded computing, HMI, connectivity, IoT and systems-based technology solutions. This is a home-based role covering a regional UK territory with responsibility for developing new business, growing existing accounts and building strong relationships across critical infrastructure, industrial, transport, energy, utilities, defence, security, building services and systems integration markets.
The successful Business Development Manager will work closely with customers to understand technical requirements, identify suitable embedded systems and HMI solutions and position products that support reliable performance in demanding environments. This role will suit someone with a strong technical sales background who understands how to sell into complex project-led environments where quality, reliability, compliance and long-term relationships matter. You will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, managing a sales pipeline, developing key accounts and presenting a technical product portfolio to both existing and prospective customers. The Business Development Manager – Embedded Systems will also work alongside internal teams, suppliers and technical specialists to deliver a joined-up customer experience from first conversation through to project win. Key Responsibilities: Develop new business opportunities across embedded systems, HMI, IoT, connectivity, edge computing and systems-based technology markets. Sell into critical infrastructure and aligned customer bases including utilities, transport, energy, defence, security, industrial automation, building services and systems integrators. Build strong relationships with engineers, technical buyers, project teams, procurement teams and senior decision makers. Identify customer requirements and position suitable embedded computing, HMI and connected technology solutions. Manage existing accounts and identify wider opportunities for growth across established customer relationships. Lead proactive sales activity across your territory through prospecting, networking, customer visits and targeted campaigns. Develop and maintain key account plans for strategic customers and high-value prospects. Present technical product solutions clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Work closely with internal technical teams and suppliers to support customer requirements and project opportunities. Maintain accurate pipeline records, sales forecasts and opportunity updates. Support supplier and partner engagement to maximise product knowledge and commercial opportunities. Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events, open days and lunch and learn sessions. Negotiate commercial terms and close profitable sales opportunities in line with agreed targets. Preferred Ideal Experience & Skills Required The successful candidate will demonstrate the following: Experience in a Business Development Manager, Account Manager, Field Sales, Technical Sales or FAE role within embedded systems, electronic components, industrial computing, systems integration or a related technology market. Must have experience selling or working with HMI products or HMI-led solutions. Strong understanding of embedded systems, embedded computing, industrial displays, panel PCs, touchscreens, IoT connectivity, edge devices or related hardware solutions. Experience selling into critical infrastructure or similar complex customer bases such as utilities, transport, defence, security, energy, industrial automation, building services or systems integrators. Proven track record of developing new business and managing existing accounts within a technical B2B sales environment. Comfortable selling technical products into project-led and specification-led sales cycles. Able to understand customer applications and translate technical requirements into clear commercial solutions. Experience working within a multi-channel, distribution, manufacturer, systems integrator or technical solutions sales environment. Able to build trust with technical customers and manage longer-term sales cycles. Willing to travel across the UK for customer meetings, supplier meetings and internal business reviews. The role also offers ongoing product training, supplier support, internal mentoring and the chance to develop deeper expertise across embedded systems, HMI, IoT, connectivity and critical infrastructure markets.
