Position: Head of Modern Foreign Languages (French & Spanish)

The Role: As Head of Modern Foreign Languages, you will lead and manage our dynamic MFL department, overseeing the delivery of high-quality French and Spanish language education. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic leadership and direction for the MFL department, setting ambitious goals and objectives to drive improvement and innovation.
  • Leading a team of dedicated MFL teachers, providing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities to ensure the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Developing a challenging and engaging MFL curriculum that meets the needs of all students and promotes a love for languages.
  • Monitoring student progress and attainment within the MFL department, implementing interventions and strategies to support the achievement of academic targets.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the school to promote cross-curricular links and enrich the language learning experience for students.
  • Playing an active role in the wider life of the school, contributing to extracurricular activities, events, and school initiatives.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant teaching qualification.
  • Significant experience teaching French and Spanish at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Proven leadership experience within an MFL department or similar role.
  • A track record of achieving excellent results in MFL examinations, with a commitment to raising standards and driving improvement.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues and students.
  • A passion for languages and a commitment to promoting cultural understanding and appreciation.
  • The ability to lead and manage change effectively, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
