The Opportunity
A forward-thinking boys’ secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated English Teacher to join its faculty from January 2026. This full-time, permanent post offers the chance to teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4 and to contribute to a thriving department with high standards and a strong sense of purpose.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
- Holds QTS, PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Has strong subject knowledge in English language, literature and writing
- Can plan and deliver engaging lessons that inspire, challenge and support students of all abilities
- Uses assessment, feedback and differentiation effectively to drive progress
- Works collaboratively within a team and is committed to ongoing professional growth
Experience with literacy initiatives, reading programmes, or school enrichment such as creative writing or drama would be an advantage.

The Role in More Detail
You will plan, teach and assess English lessons across KS3 and KS4, inspiring students to think critically, read widely and write creatively. You will differentiate to support a range of learners, build confidence through effective feedback, and encourage curiosity and independence in your classroom.
You will also contribute to departmental planning, curriculum design and extra-curricular opportunities such as book clubs, writing workshops or drama activities that bring the subject to life.
