A large and well-established secondary school in the West Midlands is seeking a highly organised and experienced Premises Manager to take full responsibility for the operational management, compliance, and presentation of the school site. This is a senior site leadership role and is essential to ensuring that the learning environment remains safe, secure, compliant, and fit for purpose at all times.

The school operates a busy campus with extensive facilities, and the successful candidate will play a central role in maintaining operational excellence while supporting long-term site improvement planning.

The Role

• Overseeing the day-to-day management of the school premises and grounds

• Leading and supervising the site and cleaning teams, including scheduling and performance management

• Ensuring full statutory compliance across fire safety, water hygiene, asbestos management, and electrical systems

• Maintaining accurate compliance documentation and preparing for audits and inspections

• Managing preventative maintenance programmes and coordinating reactive repairs

• Overseeing contractor procurement, induction, and performance monitoring

• Managing site security procedures including key holding and alarm systems

• Supporting the coordination of school events, lettings, and examinations

• Contributing to longer-term premises development and refurbishment planning

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Proven experience in premises or site management, ideally within an educational setting

• Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation and compliance standards

• Experience managing site staff and external contractors

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively

• A proactive and practical problem-solving mindset

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders
