Interim Tax Accountant

Central Birmingham (Hybrid - 2 days onsite)

6 Month Contract | Up to £450 per day (Inside IR35) | Immediate Start

We are supporting a large, complex organisation in Central Birmingham to appoint an Interim Tax Accountant on a 6-month contract.

This role sits within a well-structured finance function and will take ownership of UK corporate tax compliance and reporting , alongside broader exposure to financial reporting and month-end processes.

This is a strong opportunity for a technically capable, qualified accountant with hands-on UK tax experience who is available to start at short notice.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Reporting

• Prepare and submit UK corporation tax returns
• Manage quarterly corporation tax payments on account
• Prepare quarterly VAT and monthly CIS returns
• Calculate and post current and deferred tax
• Support tax disclosures within statutory accounts
• Maintain and enhance tax controls, processes and governance frameworks
• Act as a key contact for internal and external auditors
• Support IFRS tax reporting requirements

Financial Reporting & Control

• Support monthly management accounts close
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
• Deliver variance analysis against budget and forecast
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting cycles
• Support statutory reporting and audit processes
• Partner with wider finance teams to improve reporting and controls

Key Requirements

• Qualified Accountant ( ACA / ACCA / CIMA )
• Strong UK Corporation Tax experience (essential)
• Experience preparing VAT returns
• Good understanding of IFRS reporting
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
