Year 1 Teacher - Edgbaston, Birmingham
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Edgbaston, starting as soon as possible. This role is an exciting opportunity to teach children at a crucial stage of their education, supporting their transition from Reception and helping them build confidence, independence, and foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
As a Year 1 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum, ensuring all pupils are supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential. The school values nurturing, reflective, and innovative teaching, and the successful candidate will play an integral role in shaping pupils’ learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum
Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and social skills
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and achievements
Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives
Support pupils’ transition from Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 1

Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, preferably Year 1
Be confident in delivering engaging lessons in literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum areas
Demonstrate excellent classroom management and the ability to differentiate teaching
Be creative, reflective, and committed to professional development
Work collaboratively within a supportive staff team
Be dedicated to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting pupil wellbeing
