Teacher of Geography - Independent Senior School - West...
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Teacher of Geography to join a highly regarded independent senior school in the West Midlands , known for its academic excellence, strong pastoral culture and impressive university progression.
This is a full-time position within a flourishing Humanities faculty, offering the chance to teach Geography in an environment where intellectual curiosity, debate and independent thinking are actively encouraged.
The Role
You will teach Geography across KS3–KS5 , delivering a curriculum that balances rigorous academic content with contemporary global issues. Lessons place strong emphasis on enquiry, data interpretation and extended writing, ensuring students develop both subject knowledge and transferable analytical skills.
At GCSE and A-Level, Geography is a popular option, with consistently strong outcomes and high levels of engagement. Students are confident contributors who enjoy discussion and respond well to challenge.
Teachers are trusted professionals here — there is genuine autonomy in lesson delivery, alongside a shared commitment to high standards.
The Department
The Geography department is well established and highly collaborative. Schemes of work are carefully sequenced but flexible, allowing teachers to bring their own interests and expertise into the classroom.
Fieldwork is a key strength of the department, with regular residential and local studies built into the programme. These are well planned, well supported and valued by students.
Collaboration with other Humanities subjects is encouraged, particularly around global citizenship, environmental studies and sustainability themes.
The School
This co-educational independent school educates pupils aged 11–18 and is widely recognised for its academic results and exceptional pastoral care. Class sizes are small, relationships between staff and pupils are strong, and behaviour is exemplary.
The campus combines traditional architecture with modern teaching spaces, creating a calm and purposeful working environment. Staff describe the culture as professional, respectful and genuinely supportive.
Professional Life & Benefits
Staff benefit from:
Small class sizes and highly motivated pupils
A competitive independent-school salary
Free lunch during term time and on-site parking
Access to excellent CPD and subject-specific development
Use of school facilities and resources
A collegiate staff community with low turnover
There is also scope for wider involvement in enrichment, trips or academic initiatives, should you wish.
