Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of counterfraud claims (both pre-litigation and litigated) and investigations and undertake litigation and intelligence investigations (to include validation enquiries) on fraud matters
  • To assist the partner and team leader in the management of their cases, and conduct delegated tasks as appropriate and commensurate with experience and training
  • Reviewing and summarising detailed documentary and intelligence evidence, putting documents in chronological order and paginating (as required)
  • Assisting in preparation and instructions for conferences with counsel, witness statements and interviews;
  • Preparing correspondence, client reports and quarterly strategy notes on all cases.
  • To instruct and liaise with the Counterfraud Intelligence team , and follow up investigations as required
  • Completion of timely MI, to include updating and ensuring accuracy of reserves and data on the case management system
  • Carrying out administration procedures including statement redaction and production, paginating documents, general filing and photocopying
  • Undertaking legal research and advocacy
  • Achieve budgeted hours and fees for the year and to devote such time to the role to ensure delivery of exceptional results
  • Willing to spend time with clients on short-term secondments if required.

Person specification

Technical skills

  • Good keyboard skills and the ability to produce own correspondence and documentation
  • Familiarity with IT (Microsoft Office 2003), and ideally with experience of appropriate case management systems
  • Familiarity with on-line and library research facilities
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills and an ability to explain/advise clients on technical aspects of process and procedure.
  • Ideally defendant insurance litigation experience with a recognised counterfraud practice and knowledge of intelligence based investigation tools with a minimum of 12 months fraud claims handling

  • Good organisational skills and be able to manage own time effectively
  • A proactive, professional and flexible approach to work
  • Ability to work on own initiative whilst maintaining a positive team spirit at all times
  • Able to adopt a common sense approach with attention to detail
  • Keen to develop over a period of time with a willingness and ability to learn
