The Customer Care Specialist Apprentice will be part of a team within the International supply chain centre of excellence responsible for ensuring efficient and effective customer service operations, focusing on providing outstanding care and service to our clients. The role oversees the importation process of goods into the country and will involve coordinating with various stakeholders, ensuring compliance with trade regulations, and optimising the efficiency of the logistics process.

How you create impact

Our Apprenticeship is a 24 month programme, combining practical on-the-job training with study towards the Business Administration Level 3 apprenticeship. You will work within a successful team while learning everything you need to know whilst supported by your peers, your managers, and the apprenticeship team within Kuehne+Nagel.

You’ll be learning how to…

• Develop strong expertise in general freight forwarding processes and industry requirements to support customers and ensure high satisfaction across our core logistics services.

• Collaborate closely with Operational Care Teams to fulfil and exceed customer expectations for timely, compliant, and efficient movement of cargo.

• Maintain accurate and compliant documentation for all general freight shipments, ensuring full traceability and readiness for internal or external audits.

• Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and customs brokers to monitor shipments, ensuring proper handling and timely resolution of any issues throughout the transport process.

• Proactively manage and resolve exceptions related to delays, damages, or regulatory compliance concerns to protect service quality and maintain supply chain reliability.

• Deliver excellent customer service through clear, timely communication and swift responses to shipment-related enquiries.

What we would like you to bring

The minimum entry requirement for this apprenticeship is Five GCSEs at grades 3 – 9 / A*-D including Maths & English)

Our company values candidates who are passionate about providing excellent customer service, have a strong work ethic, and are able to communicate effectively with others. Good planning and organization skills is important and you will need the ability to multitask and be a self-starter.

Previous use of Microsoft Outlook and Excel is beneficial.

Key Information:

  • Apprenticeship Contract: Fixed Term – 2 years
  • Working hours: 8:30am-5:00pm, including 1 hour lunch. You will be expected onsite full time during your apprenticeship.
  • Place of work: Birmingham.

Recruitment Process:

Step 2: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a telephone screening call with a member of our Resourcing team. Step 3: A final shortlist of candidates will be invited to an interview onsite with two members of the hiring team

Step 4: All candidates will receive telephone feedback after their interviews and if offered will be invited to return to the office for a further site tour and to provide right to work documentation.
