Assistant Management Accountant

We are currently working with a well-established organisation based in Birmingham who are looking to appoint an Interim Assistant Management Accountant to support their finance team on an initial 6-month contract , with the potential for the role to extend.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or experienced finance professional to join a busy finance function and gain strong exposure to management accounting, reporting, and financial analysis within a supportive team environment.

The role offers a hybrid working arrangement , with three days per week based in the Birmingham office and the remainder working remotely .

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts , including posting journals, calculating accruals, and preparing prepayments.

• Performing regular balance sheet reconciliations and investigating any outstanding reconciling items.

• Supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing relevant financial data, analysis, and variance commentary.

• Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and analysis for internal stakeholders.

• Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the team during audit processes .

• Contributing to process improvements and strengthening financial controls within the finance function.

• Providing ad hoc financial support and analysis to the wider finance team as required.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience in a finance or assistant management accounting role .

• Strong understanding of management accounting processes , including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.

• Good analytical and Excel skills with the ability to interpret financial data.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills .

Desirable

• Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or AAT) or currently studying towards a professional qualification.

• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, or financial reporting processes .
