Join Our Team as a Highways Maintenance Operative

We are excited to invite a dedicated Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the maintenance of Birmingham's highways network while working in a supportive environment.

Location and Hours

Location: Birmingham
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:30

Your Role

As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will be an integral part of our arboriculture team, focusing on maintaining safe highways and greenspaces. Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out stump grinding, root pruning, tree pit creation, and re-staking as part of a team.
• Setting up safe working sites on the highway and engaging with the public.
• Adhering to safe systems of work, risk assessments, and safety procedures at all times.
• Completing safety-critical emergency works when necessary.
• Maintaining accurate paperwork, including LOLER check sheets and HAVS forms.

What We Are Looking For

This role is perfect for you if you have:

• City & Guilds NPTC/Lantra chainsaw and stump grinding qualifications.
• NRSWA or equivalent operative qualification.
• Experience with CAT & Genny and practical knowledge of their use.
• NPORS (or equivalent) lorry loader with clamshell and timber grab attachments.
• A full driving licence.
