Job Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate a wide range of tools and equipment within the tool room to ensure optimal operational readiness.
- Assist in the design and fabrication of new tools and fixtures as required for production processes.
- Ensure all tools and machinery are compliant with health and safety regulations and company standards.
- Maintain accurate records of tool maintenance, repairs, and calibration activities.
- Collaborate with production teams to understand tool requirements and provide technical support.
- Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting of tools and equipment to identify issues proactively.
- Assist in the inventory management of tools and spare parts, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tool room efficiency and productivity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Tool Room Technician or similar role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Toolmaking.
- Strong technical skills in tool maintenance, repair, and calibration.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and understanding engineering specifications.
- Experience with CNC machinery, lathes, mills, and other workshop equipment.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to workshop environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Relevant certifications such as City & Guilds or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering are desirable.
