Housing Legal Services Manager
Are you an experienced housing law professional ready to lead a high-impact legal service? We're looking for an experienced housing law professional to join us on a fixed-term basis of 3-6 months as Housing Legal Services Manager and play a key role in delivering effective, tenant-focused legal outcomes.
This opportunity is available while a senior member of our existing team is seconded to a key internal project. As such, you'll be stepping into a well-established function where your expertise will ensure continuity, stability, and ongoing service excellence.
About the Role
As Housing Legal Services Manager, you will lead the operational delivery of housing management and disrepair casework. You'll ensure cases are progressed efficiently, proportionately, and in line with legal requirements and organisational priorities.
Working across legal, housing, and customer teams, you will oversee case pipelines, manage risk, and drive improvements in standards and ways of working. You'll also play a key role in coordinating internal teams and external panel solicitors to ensure seamless case progression.
What you'll do
- Oversee and manage housing and disrepair case pipelines, ensuring timely progression of cases
- Provide expert guidance on complex housing litigation matters,
- Co-ordinate activity between internal teams and external legal providers
- Monitor caseloads, identify risks or delays, and take proactive corrective action
- Ensure compliance with pre-action protocols and court processes
- Improve case quality, documentation standards, and service delivery
- Support operational teams with legal advice on tenancy enforcement
- Deliver clear reporting on performance, risks, and outcomes to senior stakeholders
What we're looking for
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEX professional, with at least 5 years' PQE, or equivalent experience
- Strong experience in housing law, particularly disrepair and landlord & tenant litigation
- Proven experience managing or overseeing legal services in a housing, local authority, or similar environment
- A track record of handling high-volume casework and competing priorities effectively
- Experience leading teams and driving performance improvements
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly
- Experience managing external legal providers and working across multi-functional teams
- A sound understanding of regulatory expectations within social housing
