A forward-thinking secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a knowledgeable Computer Science Teacher to join its department from September . This role offers the opportunity to teach a subject that plays an essential role in modern education, supporting students in developing technical and computational skills.
Computer Science is a growing subject within the school, with increasing student interest and a curriculum designed to support both theory and practical application.
About the Role
You will teach Computer Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 , delivering lessons that focus on programming, computational thinking, and digital literacy. Students will be supported in developing their understanding of coding principles, algorithms, and computer systems.
Lessons will include both theoretical learning and practical computing sessions, allowing students to apply their knowledge using appropriate software and programming tools.
Depending on experience and departmental needs, there may also be opportunities to support Key Stage 5 Computer Science teaching.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Teaching and Learning
Deliver Computer Science lessons across KS3–KS4
Teach programming fundamentals and computing theory
Support students during practical coding activities
Prepare students for GCSE Computer Science examinations
Assess student work and monitor academic progress
Additional Duties
Maintain classroom technology and computing resources
Support safe and appropriate use of school IT systems
Contribute to curriculum planning within the department
Maintain accurate records of student progress

The successful candidate will have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Computer Science or ICT
Strong knowledge of programming principles
Ability to teach KS3–KS4 confidently
Good classroom management skills
A structured and organised teaching style
Experience teaching GCSE or A-Level Computer Science would be beneficial but is not essential.
