The school and role — summary
This well-established Independent School prides itself on small classes, bespoke curriculum design and robust pastoral care. The Year 2 Teacher will begin planning and collaborative moderation sessions before January 2026 , take part in a detailed induction in January 2026 , and teach from January 2026 as a Full-Time Year 2 Teacher . The Year 2 Teacher will deliver high-quality phonics, guided reading and mathematics mastery and will enjoy close professional support and ongoing CPD starting in January 2026.

Key responsibilities — Year 2 Teacher: plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons; lead daily phonics and guided reading sessions as the Year 2 Teacher ; assess and track progress; run targeted interventions; liaise with families; contribute to enrichment activities. The Year 2 Teacher will model exemplary practice and will be supported by teaching assistants and phase leaders.

Person specification — Year 2 Teacher: QTS (or equivalent), recent KS1 classroom success, excellent phonics practice and a creative approach to teaching. We want a Year 2 Teacher who is reflective, calm and ambitious for children’s progress. The Year 2 Teacher should be ready to start pre-term planning and induction in the lead-up to January 2026 , and then teach from January 2026 as a Full-Time Year 2 Teacher .
