SEMH Teaching Assistant - Birmingham (B33) GSL Education | Full-Time | Temp to Perm Opportunity

GSL Education are seeking a resilient and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist provision in Birmingham (B33) . This is a rewarding opportunity to work with primary and Key Stage 3 boys who require additional support due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs .

The school provides a structured and supportive environment for pupils who hold an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) . The curriculum is carefully adapted to meet a wide range of educational and social needs, helping students progress towards greater independence and reintegration into mainstream settings where appropriate.

Your Role

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
Build strong, positive relationships to support emotional regulation and engagement
Assist in delivering a tailored curriculum suited to individual learning levels
Support with behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
Encourage pupils' social development, resilience, and confidence

What We're Looking For

Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or SEND
A calm, patient, and consistent approach
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
Team player with excellent communication skills

Requirements

Must be registered with GSL Education before full school details are disclosed
Must hold a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
Relevant qualifications or training are desirable but not essential
