Food Technology Teacher - Independent School in Birmingham
Our client, a highly regarded independent 11–18 day school in Birmingham, is seeking a dedicated and inspiring Food Technology Teacher to join their successful Design & Technology Department as soon as possible. This is a full-time, permanent position offering an exciting opportunity to teach within a school known for academic ambition, strong pastoral care and a progressive approach to practical learning.

The successful Food Technology Teacher will deliver engaging and practical lessons across KS3–KS5, with the opportunity to teach GCSE and A Level Food Preparation & Nutrition depending on experience. You will plan and deliver hands-on, skills-focused lessons that develop students’ understanding of nutrition, food science, health, sustainability and enterprise.
The school is seeking a practitioner who can inspire creativity and independence while maintaining high standards of safety and organisation within the kitchen environment. A passion for real-world learning and promoting healthy lifestyles is essential.
Beyond classroom teaching, there is significant scope to lead or support enrichment activities such as cooking clubs, enterprise projects, wellbeing initiatives and cross-curricular STEM collaborations.
Experience and Qualifications
• QTS/PGCE and a degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, Hospitality or a related discipline
• Experience teaching GCSE and A Level Food Technology desirable
• Strong knowledge of food safety, nutrition and practical kitchen management
• Excellent organisational and classroom management skills
• A commitment to co-curricular involvement and holistic education
