Role summary — Reception Teacher
This Reception Teacher will create language-rich continuous provision, lead systematic phonics sessions as the Reception Teacher, and design play-based, adult-led activities that build early literacy and numeracy as the Reception Teacher. The Reception Teacher will assess children against the Early Learning Goals, communicate progress with parents and prepare transition dossiers ahead of January 2026. Although part-time, the Reception Teacher will participate in induction and core CPD days scheduled from January 2026.

Reception Teacher — key responsibilities
• Lead daily phonics, story and early number sessions as the Reception Teacher.
• Plan and manage indoor and outdoor provision and scaffold learning as the Reception Teacher.
• Use high-quality observations to identify next steps as the Reception Teacher.
• Prepare resources before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and teach from January 2026.

Reception Teacher — candidate essentials
We are seeking a Reception Teacher with QTS/EYTS (or equivalent), excellent early years knowledge and strong communication with families. The Reception Teacher should be reflective, organised and ready for pre-term planning prior to January 2026, induction in January 2026, and to teach from January 2026 as the Reception Teacher in a part-time capacity. Experience of leading provision and working with TAs is advantageous for the Reception Teacher.
