The Role:
Support KS4 pupils in English through targeted 1:1 work and small-group intervention. You will focus on reading, comprehension, essay structure, analysis, revision, and exam preparation, while reinforcing learning from lessons and feeding back clearly to teachers on pupil progress. Teaching assistants commonly support teachers in the classroom, while secondary teachers also work with small groups and follow safeguarding procedures as part of daily school life.

The Candidate:
You are articulate, thoughtful, and able to explain ideas in a way pupils can actually follow. You want meaningful secondary experience, you enjoy helping students improve their confidence in English, and you are looking for a role that gives you a realistic foundation for a future in teaching. Secondary school teachers work with pupils aged 11 to 16, or up to 19 in schools with sixth forms, so this type of support role gives useful exposure to that setting.

Requirements
• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.
