SEN Teaching Assistant - Independent School in Birmingham
Our client, a highly regarded independent 11–18 school in Birmingham, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive Inclusion Department as soon as possible. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to work within a school known for its strong pastoral care, inclusive ethos and commitment to individual student success.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCo to support pupils with a variety of needs, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia and social, emotional, or mental health needs. You will provide in-class support, deliver small-group interventions, and assist in implementing personalised learning plans.
The school is seeking an individual who is patient, proactive and committed to ensuring that every pupil can access the curriculum confidently and independently. Strong relationship-building skills and a nurturing yet structured approach are essential.
Beyond classroom support, there is scope to contribute to wider pastoral initiatives, wellbeing programmes, and enrichment activities designed to promote confidence and personal development.
Experience and Qualifications
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN desirable
• Relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEN support advantageous
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A calm, empathetic and adaptable approach
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
