I’m currently partnering with a highly regarded engineering consultancy that is expanding its mission critical / data centre division across EMEA and launching a new Birmingham office. They are looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to play a key role in the growth of the regional team while leading complex hyperscale and critical infrastructure projects from concept through to handover.

The Opportunity

As the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer , you’ll act as the lead mechanical engineer on major data centre developments, managing project delivery end-to-end while being the key client-facing contact throughout the lifecycle.

Alongside project delivery, the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will have the chance to be part of an exciting office expansion in Birmingham, helping shape culture, capability and future growth in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical building services design from concept through detailed design and delivery

• Manage multiple live projects across EMEA within the data centre sector

• Produce specifications, reports, tender packages and technical recommendations

• Coordinate with electrical, CSA, controls and wider multidisciplinary teams

• Oversee QA processes and maintain technical design standards

• Mentor junior engineers, BIM staff and support teams

• Attend client meetings and act as a trusted technical advisor

• Support the growth and development of the new Birmingham office

• Drive innovation and adoption of modern engineering solutions

What They’re Looking For

• Strong experience in mechanical building services design

• Proven background delivering data centre / mission critical / industrial / complex infrastructure projects

• Able to lead projects with minimal oversight

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

• Experience managing engineers and multidisciplinary teams

• Good working knowledge of CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS and EN standards

• Familiarity with software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office

• Degree qualified, with Chartership advantageous but not essential
