Physics Teaching Role in an Outstanding Sixth Form College
An outstanding sixth form college in Birmingham is seeking to appoint a Physics Teacher to join its Science department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-achieving post-16 setting that places strong emphasis on academic excellence and progression to higher education.
Physics is a popular subject within the college, with students studying advanced scientific concepts in preparation for university courses and STEM-related careers.
About the Role
You will teach Physics at Key Stage 5, delivering lessons that cover key areas including mechanics, electricity, waves, particles, and quantum physics.
Students will develop analytical thinking, mathematical application, and experimental skills through both theoretical teaching and practical laboratory work.
You will prepare students for A-Level Physics examinations, supporting them in developing problem-solving ability, scientific reasoning, and exam technique.
You will work collaboratively within the Science department to maintain high standards of teaching and assessment.
Key Responsibilities
Teach A-Level Physics to KS5 students
Deliver lessons covering advanced Physics concepts
Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities
Prepare students for A-Level Physics examinations
Assess student work and provide detailed feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Maintain safe laboratory environments
Contribute to STEM enrichment and academic extension activities

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
Strong subject knowledge in Physics
Experience teaching Physics
Ability to teach A-Level Physics
Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable
Experience preparing students for A-Level examinations
Experience contributing to STEM enrichment activities
Experience working in a sixth form or post-16 environment
