Our client, a leading organisation in power infrastructure, is hiring for a Principal Substation Primary (HV Plant) Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on diverse projects within the transmission and distribution sectors across the UK, supporting innovative energy solutions. What you'll be doing:Lead FEED and detailed design workstreams for HV substations, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with client specifications.
Manage and mentor a team of engineers, supporting their development and performance.
Oversee design reviews, including layouts, earthing, interlocking schemes, and HV equipment specifications.
Coordinate project interfaces with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers for seamless delivery.
Act as tender manager for HV plant packages, reviewing technical offers and ensuring competitive submissions.
Engage with clients and stakeholders through meetings, site visits, and technical reviews.
Support business growth by maintaining strong client relationships and identifying new opportunities. What you'll bring:
Experience leading technical teams in primary plant design for substations.
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Chartered Engineer or working towards it.
Proven expertise in HV plant design within the UK or internationally.
Skilled in preparing bids, cost estimates, and working with electrical standards (IEC, IEEE).
